Bond 22

My sources tell me that the latest and, thus far, untitled Bond flick has begun filming. Daniel Craig and company were seen at a horse race of some sort in Italy--that's in Europe.

Also, this guy reports that the old guy whom Bond shot in the leg at the end of CR will return for Bond 22. I tend to agree with his observation that, while CR was brilliant, the villains in it were on the forgettable side.

UPDATE: I should also note that, according to my new favorite website, the latest authorized Bond novel, by the British novelist Sebastian Faulks, is due out in May of 2008. You can preorder it now from Amazon, if you're into that kind of thing. Says CommanderBond.net, "According to Faulks, Devil May Care is set in 1967 when 'Bond is damaged, aging and in a sense it is the return of the gunfighter for one last heroic mission.'" We can hope that it's an improvement on "Brokenclaw."

JB - what are you guys watching these days? It seems like the only new thing on is "Curb". I know the fall lineup starts sometime soon but Amy is addicted to "Whose Wedding is it Anyway" and "Married Away" on lifetime or style or some crappy network. I'm losing my freakin mind. When the only show we can agree on is "Sunset Tan", well, that's just bad. Any recs are appreciated.

i'm watching & smoking weeds.

can i watch heroes even though i didnt't watch the first season, or will it be confusing?

journeyman looks interesting, not my usual type of show, but i'll give it a try.

but fastlane? i didn't know what it was so i went to the show's website and it looks like a cheesy ripoff of tj hooker and beverly hills cop. really? that show is good?

anyone else? please...anything i can get her to watch. the new season of america's next top model just started and she thinks i like it. maybe once, a long time ago, i might've mumbled that i like it because, well, you know, i was trying to get some action. wouldn't you? whatever, i still know i'm 100% man.

lets go - i need some solid recommendations. she likes police shows. i dont know why. however, several years ago she dated a policeman and i dont want to even think in that direction. so i just accept it for what it is and go from there. luckily, she likes to watch the same sports as me, so i'm cool on the weekends.

anyone?

So, I'm so unhip as to be hopeless, out here in deepest, darkest rural Indiana; with no cable, and not even an antenae for the tely. We do have some friends, though, who record Weeds for us. We love it, of course. Otherwise, we're restricted to DVDs. We've been watching the second season of 24 lately. If the cliffhanging doesn't hook you, the ultimate hotness of Elisha Cuthbert will:

Regarding Bond, to reprise an argument I've advanced here before: as happy as I am with Craig's portrayal, I can't help but feel that Canadian actors haven't had a fair whack at portraying the British superspy, despite actual illustrious record of Canadian service in covert activities on behalf of the British Empire, Commonwealth and Anglosphere generally. I don't know, maybe they don't think a Canadian could plausibly pull off a British accent, due to the excessive influence of Americanisms in Canadian speech.

That having been said, it is heartening to at least see a character like Jack Bauer, the ultimate American counter-terrorism agent, portrayed by Keifer Sutherland (a Canadian, of course). One could argue whether or not Sutherland's got sufficient 'Can-cred', as he seems to have spent his entire life living in the U.S. with his Dad. That hasn't stopped the The Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists from honouring Keifer for his work on 24, though: http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5hhE_QONH2e6RH64vkvMf9vmja6MQ

But even if Sutherland isn't sufficiently Canadian, I'm happy to say that Elisha Cuthbert is. I'm also happy to point out that she is not only Canadian, but was born in my hometown, Calgary.
